A slice of Turkey...

Day 5 & 6 :  Kusadasi & Katakolon

Our next port of call was Kusadasi, Turkey.  Last time we visited there, we spent most of our time exploring the ancient ruins of Ephesus, so this time we decided to pursue a more modern approach and spent the day shopping.  Happiness is...
Kusadasi really is a little mecca for lovers of bags (me) and watches (him) so we wandered and haggled, and wandered and haggled... and headed back to the ship, two very-pleased-with-ourselves little shoppers.

The next day we were back in Greece, at another new destination for us - Katakolon.  Technically it's not an island but a peninsula (so says the guidebook) and the town itself has only one horse, so it didn't take us long to walk the length of its two streets!   Katakolon's claim to fame is the nearby old town of Olympia - where the original Games were held way, way, way back...
So once again we wandered and explored, and happened upon a very local (and un-touristy) little cafe for some spanikopita, schwarma pitta and Mythos - a very yummy lunch indeed.

Day 7 was spent all at sea, sailing up the along the east coast of Croatia and Albania and back to Venice for a sunrise arrival.  And just like that, the holiday was over as we winged our way back to Blighty.
Oh well, can't complain - the next one will be here before we know it.... Roll on July!
