more Holiday Tales...

We're back!  Well actually we've been back for a week already, but it's been a busy one so this weekend we're slowly catching up and getting back to 'normal'.
What a lovely, relaxing and fun holiday we had.  The weather was gorgeous, the sea was calm and the new places we discovered did not disappoint. What more could one ask for?

SO, for those that enjoy the day-by-day account, here it begins:

Days 1 & 8: VENICE

Day 1 started in London.
Having delivered the two-most-adorable-pups-in-the-world to their Puppysitter down the road, we headed south for a delicious dinner and an overnight stay with Chris who then obliged us by rising before-9am-on-a- Saturday-morning (we Reid girls are usually quite strict about applying the "Not Before Nine" rule at weekends) and driving us to Heathrow. Thanks sis :-)
So after a brief sojourn trawling the delightful shops at Terminal 5 (I needed make-up, Ali needed chocolate!) we were off to the beautiful city of Venice to board the Splendour of the Seas, our home for the next week.

Venice greeted us with sunshine and 27C degrees - YAY!  Definitely a good start.

We set sail in the late afternoon and enjoyed the always spectacular scenery as we glided past this unique and fascinating city.

Our itinerary took us south along the east coast of Italy to Bari (just at the top of the heel), east across the Ionian Sea to the Greek islands of Corfu & Santorini, Kusadasi in Turkey and the peninsula of Katakolon in Greece... but more about these beautiful destinations will follow.

A short, but delightful week later, it was about 5.30am (yes, once again that rule was pushed aside) when we arrived back in Venice, as the sun was rising...

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

If you've never been to Venice, put it on your Bucket List NOW.
And if you can see it at sunrise, even better.
