I was up in bonnie Scotland for a few days last week - the Mum is in hospital recovering from a hip replacement op and a broken wrist :-( But she's doing well and on the mend, and hoping to get home sometime early next week.
It really was bonnie up north. Blue skies and sunshine every day, whilst most of the rest of the UK is experiencing the wettest drought in 100 years!
Yip, drought has been declared and there are hosepipe bans in place in various counties (not ours...yet) and now, after an unseasonally dry winter, the rains have come. Apparently in order for the dams to be sufficiently replenished and the bans to be lifted, it would need to rain every day between now and Christmas. A depressing thought indeed.
The Ben dog has been in the wars too - she split a claw on Sunday night which the Vet decided was not loose enough to just yank out, so under anaesthetic she went to have it removed.
She was a bit dopey for a while but is now bounding around again with her usual exuberance and getting quite adept at bouncing on 3 legs. She has to wear the little plastic baggie over her paw when venturing outside but quite happily sits patiently whilst it gets put on and taken off. We're heading back to the vet this afternoon for a check-up and hopefully getting the dressing off.
