Turkey had never really appealed to me that much as a place to see, but visiting Bodrum and Kusadasi on this trip, completely changed my mind.
We loved it.
The sights were inspiring, the people were friendly, the apple tea was delicious and the shopping was fab-u-lous!
It was another beautiful clear, hot & sunny day when we docked in the local harbour.
So we wandered along the waterside all the way to the Castle, with the obligatory stop for ice cream en route, then meandering back through all the little streets, we shopped..and shopped..and shopped.
I discovered that, much to my surprise as I thought I was quite good at it, Ali turned out to be the expert negotiator, bartering away merrily (gaining sympathy from the shopkeepers as he woefully explained the nature of my addiction to all-things-handbags) and bagging some great bargains until I realised that if I bought any more bags, I'd need to buy another suitcase to cart them all home in!
Nonetheless, it served only to fuel my desire to return to Bodrum for a girls shopping trip one day.
But don't let my love of shopping detract from the delights of this beautiful place.
Thirsty and a wee bit shopped-out, we retired to a lovely waterside cafe for a well-earned drink and some R&R, Bodrum-style.
