Blooms, boerewors & Breagha...

We are having a lovely quiet weekend here... in fact, as I write, absolutely e.v.e.r.y other member of this household (and guest) is having an afternoon nap!
So I thought I'd take advantage of the peace and quiet, and catch up with you.

Jerry...zzzzzzz
Finally summer has returned to the island and it's been a beautiful hot, sunny day - just perfect for an early morning walk in the woods with the pups, some gardening, some lounging around on the deck in the sun reading magazines, and a late afternoon braai complete with lamb tjoppies and regte, egte boerewors.  Y.U.M

My flower garden is coming along nicely and soon it'll be time to get the bulbs in the ground in preparation for a riot of colour (she says, hopefully) next Spring.  The pups are pretty good about not jumping the low fence around the cutting garden, but every now and again they just can't resist, so when I came across this sign in a gorgeous little interiors shop in Eton last weekend, I absolutely HAD to have it.  Now I just need to teach Ben & Jerry to read!

Continuing the topic of bouncy pups, we've got (puppycousin) Breagha (Gaelic meaning 'beautiful' and pronounced Bree-a, in case you're wondering) staying with us whilst her humans are enjoying a weekend in London.
She's a precious little thing. So sweet, and one can deny those big soulful brown eyes nothing. Definitely Ben & Jerry's BFF !

puppycousin Breagha - visiting for the weekend
It's been quite a sporting weekend too, but we're not going to dwell on the horrible defeat of the Boks at the hands of the All Blacks earlier, nor the current England v India cricket series.  Instead we shall be cheering on Lewis and Jenson with the hope of some British glory in Hungary tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, whatever the weather and whatever you're up to...
