Around and about in Brum...

Ok, so Lee-Anne left on Tuesday evening already but it's been a bit busy here since then. It's now Sunday evening and I've commandeered the PC for a bit (Ali is out in the garage sanding a puzzle or something equally exciting...).

How quickly the time flew, but what a precious and lovely time it was.
We were so blessed with the weather, which was unseasonally hot.  I kid you not.
It even reached 29C one day.  In October.  In England.

We spent the days walking with the pups in the Lickey hills, having the most delicious bacon butties at the end of a walk in the Clent hills, shopping, knitting and yet more lovely endless chattering.  Oh, and did I mention we stayed up almost all night (well into the wee hours, at least) watching the whole Series One of Downton Abbey? Then overslept the next morning and woke up with the phone ringing and Ali on the other end wondering exactly when I was going to come and fetch him home from hospital. Oops...

On Friday, we hopped on a train and headed into the bustling city of Birmingham. Pronounced Bur-ming-gum. Locally anyway.
We met my friend Susan, a fellow Glaswegian refugee now also living deep in Sassenach country, and whiled away the day cruising on a traditional narrow boat on the Birmingham to Worcester Canal followed by lunch al fresco at Brindley Place.  By the way, did you know that Birmingham has more canals than Venice? Odd but true.

The sunshine and high temps continued into the weekend so Ali retrieved the Weber from it's winter resting place and we enjoyed a yummy braai...

 ...with lekker tuisgebakte brood.

On Monday, Lee-Anne and I headed down to London for the last two days of her visit. But that's another post, so as soon as I get the rest of my pics sorted, I'll tell you all about it.
'Til then...
