Lani in London...

As Lee-Anne was flying out of London, we decided to spend the last 2 days of her holiday in the Capital. So, on Monday morning, we loaded up the car and headed south.  After a brief stop at Bicester village en route, we arrived at Chris's place, dumped the car and our bags and hopped on the Tube into the city to meet Wendy (another ex-Capie) at Waterloo.  We had a short-but-sweet lunch with her before she had to go back to work, and we two made our way across Green Park to Buckingham Palace.

For the last few years, the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace have opened to the public during the summer and I've been dying to go. So when I noted that the last day of the 2011 summer opening coincided with Lee-Anne's visit, I immediately sprang into action and got us tickets. Yay.
So we spent a fabulous afternoon wandering through the Palace, in awe of its opulent beauty and also got to see the amazing Faberge exhibition, and Kate's dress, shoes & wedding cake which were also on display.
No photography was allowed inside the Palace, but we walked out through the garden which was so beautiful.  I did think that Ben & Jerry would LOVE a garden like that... plenty of lawn to bat around on AND several ponds to swim in!
Again it was a beautiful hot and sunny day which added to our enjoyment.

Winding our way through the busy streets (it was rush hour by this time), we found our way to Victoria and hopped back on the Tube to Embankment where a short walk through the gardens took us to The Strand.  After a delicious dinner, we crossed the road to the Savoy Theatre to enjoy the award-winning stage production of  "Legally Blonde".  The show was such fun and provided a fitting end to a really lovely day.

The next day, we had a lazy morning then wandered into Pinner village for brunch and a mooch around the shops.  Before we knew it, it was time to make our way to Heathrow for Lee-Anne's flight, and for me to head back up the road to BG.

All too quickly the holiday was over, but the memories will be treasured for ever...
