Eat, Craft, Chat

Wednesday evening: Ali's in hospital (sinus op... on his birthday, nogal!), Lee-Anne is in the kitchen, sipping a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and cooking up a storm for dinner, and Ben & Jerry are curled up, fast asleep so I figured now would be a good time to fill you in on what's been happening here in Walkerdom for the past few days.

Thanks for all the lovely wishes, I had a fabulous birthday - spread out over 3 days :-)  Ali took me out for dinner on Wednesday evening, then on Thursday I headed down to London and had a lovely dinner with Chris and then it was an early rise to collect Lee-Anne at Heathrow on Friday morning.
We nattered all the way back to BG and have pretty much not stopped chatting since... except for a few hours overnight when we are obliged to catch up on sleep.

So, we spent the rest of the weekend shopping and chatting and eating and chatting and knitting and chatting and walking in the woods and chatting...
We had one of those "soooo-funny-one-can't-stop-giggling-about-it" moments, when Jerry, in her eagerness to jump into the car, neglected to wait for me to open the door, and hurtled herself at the still-closed door and bounced right back off it again.  Poor pup - she was absolutely fine, no harm done, just a large dent to her pride and a small dent in my car.

Monday dawned and was officially designated "Craft Shop Day" so we plugged the SatNav into the car and meandered our way over to Hall Green in search of The Cotton Patch.
Oh, the delight!  Spent well over an hour (and too many pounds!) there, and then headed down the road to Hobbycraft.  Lee-Anne was like the Energizer Bunny as she scuttled around the shop amassing a large selection of must-haves and wanties*.
Next on the itinerary was a quick stop for a yummy lunch at the Handmade Burger Co. in Solihull and then a trawl through M&S.  So distracted was my dear friend here, that she managed to walk out the door with a basket full of (as-yet-unpaid-for) goodies!  Quelle horreur!! The speed at which she returned inside and made a beeline for the cash desk hoping beyond all hope that she wasn't about to get arrested and spend the rest of her holiday in HMP Wormwood Scrub, caused me another fit of the giggles.

Yesterday was another beautiful unseasonally hot sunny day and we spent the morning in Warwick at The Quilter's Den learning how to make appliqued, quilted cards. Such fun...

Then we headed across to Stratford-upon-Avon for yet more eating and enjoyed a lovely lunch outside in the sunshine with Claire.

Today we had a relaxing morning and  took the pups for a lovely long walk in the Clent Hills and treated ourselves to THE best bacon butties for brunch.  We really are having fabulous weather and making the most of it.
That's it for now...

*wanties (n) - adapted from the verb "to want"
