Things have been busy here at Walker's B&B for the past few days but today we are "in between guests" so I thought I'd take the opportunity to tell you all about it, before the next visitors arrive tomorrow.
Desre, an old school friend of mine, and her daughter, Nicole arrived on Wednesday evening - I went down to London to pick them up at Heathrow and we nattered all the way back up the road to BG (and pretty much didn't stop for the next 3 days! We did have a lot to catch up on.)
On Thursday, we waited for the storm (think thunder, lightening and torrential rain... you know, English summer and all that...) to pass, before heading over to spend the rest of the day wandering along the river & around the shops in Stratford-upon-Avon with a yummy lunch in the Snug at Henley Street Tearoom.
The weather perked up in the afternoon and peaked at a lovely warm 26C degrees - YAY!
Friday dawned warm & overcast, but with no rain forecast and we decided to tackle Nicole's "List of Things to Experience in the UK". So after breakfast we headed to the Mall at Merry Hill and during the course of the morning managed to tick off "Krispy Kreme donuts" and "Starbucks coffee" :-)
Next on the list was "Traditional Afternoon Tea" so we meandered through the Worcestershire countryside and found our way to the quaint little Juke's Tea Room in the quintessentially English village of Chaddesley Corbett, and "Earl Grey tea" was ticked off too.
Later we met up in Warwick with another old classmate for a very yummy dinner and a truly lovely evening. Then all too soon, it was Saturday and we had to say goodbye to Desre & Nicole as they hopped on the train back to London for a few days before they board the beautiful Jewel of the Seas and set sail for a lovely long cruise around Scandinavia and the Baltic. That itinerary is on our "To Do" list too, so I can't wait to see their pics and hear all about it.
So today we've been tackling the chores and in general getting organized for Roger & Sophie's imminent arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to catching up with them too... and praying for at least a few days of sunshine whilst they're here!
