Puzzle nuts...

OK, so I started collecting puzzles a couple of years ago...it all started out fairly innocently with the odd puzzle from Hamleys, John Lewis or a puzzle shop in Keswick (while we were down in Keswick on holiday, of course). Then I started coming across nicer and nicer puzzles – most of which involved investments, via the internet, and I’m afraid it all went downhill from there – to the extent that this past weekend we hosted the first Midlands Puzzle Party in the dining room! They came from far and wide – from Studley and Redditch, Worcester and Leamington, a couple of them drove up from the other side of London and one chap flew in from Holland (yes, I know...). Everyone united by a love of a particular type of puzzle that’s been entertaining us for the past couple of years – things called Revomazes (look ‘em up if you’re interested!) ... everyone brought their favourite puzzles along, put them on the dining room table and then we spent the rest of the day chatting about puzzles and playing with everyone else’s toys. We were joined in the afternoon by the guy that designed and makes those Revomazes (the sod who owes me several hundred hours of my life back!) and he gave us a bit of a talk about his plans for world domination. Gill did a great lunch and kept the pups well-walked while we pretended (quite successfully) that the rest of the world didn’t exist and played with puzzles. Everyone seemed to have an excellent time judging by the fact that I had to physically evict them 2 hours after the party was supposed to end so that we could get to the BGI for our dinner reservations...    - ali
