This morning, a coffee date with friends at the little cafe in our village turned into lunch and halfway through our salmon cakes with salad (today's special), conversation turned to the books we were all currently reading.
I have just finished "The Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morton, which I so enjoyed. If you haven't read it yet, do.
I so LOVE reading, but somehow last year magazines and tv (and of course, the two most-adorable-pups-in-the-world) seemed to absorb more of my time, so my resolution for the rest of winter is to finally get around to reading the various books that are sitting on my bedside table/the shelf in the study/the bookcase downstairs.
So I've made a list :
- The House at Riverton - Kate Morton
- Parky : My Autobiography - Michael Parkinson
- A Week in December - Sebastian Faulks
- When a Crocodile eats the Sun - Peter Godwin
- A Journey - Tony Blair
- The Junior Officers Reading Club - Patrick Hennessey
That should keep me out of mischief (and the shops!) for a wee while, and see me through the winter. Any further suggestions or recommendations for my "Spring/Summer list" will be well received.
ps. the salmon cakes were absolutely delicious
