A Walk to Remember

It's been a busy week so far, but Ali is off tomorrow and Monday is a Bank Holiday here so we're looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend. The weather forecast is dire (read: rainy) for the next two days, but things should pick up and the sun is scheduled to reappear by Sunday... but then one can never really go by what the Met office predicts so we'll just take it as it comes.

Anyway, back to last weekend...

We spent a lovely two days catching up with the Tibbs et al in beautiful Oxfordshire.  A lekker braai on Saturday followed by a Sunday morning walk along the Thames Path to a quaint and quirky little deli cum cafe in Goring where we feasted on a delicious lunch.  Having not done this route before, but having it on good authority that it should take us "about an hour", we set off at a steady pace: 8 big people, 2 little people and 3 hounds.

In the end it turned out to be an "almost two hours" walk, but the good company, the idyllic scenery, and the promise of yummy-ness for lunch kept us going.

And after a lazy lunch we headed back along the track, enjoying the hot afternoon sunshine with we humans wishing that we too could just jump in and out of the river with the hounds to cool off.

A late afternoon tea of freshly baked scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream was a perfect end to a lovely weekend, and with two very tired most-adorable-pups-in-the-world fast asleep in the back of the car we headed for home.

Happy days...
