We had the first snow fall of the season yesterday - woke up to a light dusting, which I have to admit was rather disappointing, as snow falls go. The Met Office had led me to believe that it was going to be good & heavy - I was almost ready to dig out my wellies (they've been hibernating in the garage for the summer). I was even more surprised when I went down the hill into the village to discover that in fact the snow hadn't even reached lower ground - only the villagers who live up the hill had snow-covered cars and boots on!
Nonetheless, as paltry as it was, the pups enjoyed bounding around the garden amidst the white stuff and a frozen, ice-encased tennis ball was the source of much delight.
By midday, the skies were blue and the sun was out... albeit only about 3C.
So, that aside - it's been a busy week.
I've been:
-knitting: finally tackling some UFOs* and frantically finishing a Christmas present
- baking: muffins for our weekend guests, cupcakes for my Pilates class Christmas party, choc chip cookies for a girls get-together, and the final version of the Tangram Cake (see previous post) which Ali took with him to Devon, and by all accounts it went down very well :-)
- putting up: the Christmas tree
- decorating: the fireplace and garlanding (?) the staircase
- making: a Christmas wreath and a table centrepiece, and enjoying lunch with friends in between
- walking: in the woods with the pups, and freezing because I'd forgotten my hat
- Christmas shopping: in Birmingham with Chris, and lunching with the Edwards
- making: big pots of yummy soup in preparation for my family arriving next week
- and all the other domestic-y chores and stuff.
Quite a productive week, don't you think?
Now it's time to put my feet up and settle in to watch the grand final of Strictly Come Dancing tonight... go Harry!
