It's the earliest snowfall in the UK since 1993 apparently but here in the Midlands we seem to have escaped the worst of it so despite the snow and icy roads, we've been out & about quite a lot this week. I spent a day with some friends doing a "How to make a Christmas wreath" workshop at the little florist shop in the village. Interspersed with breaks for morning tea, a yummy lunch and then afternoon hot chocolate (the village deli is conveniently situated next door to the flower shop), I did manage to create a lovely (well, I think so anyway!) wreath for our front door.
On Tuesday we celebrated St Andrew's night at The Malt Shovel in Barston with the "Glasgow Refugees Society" (the rest of Ali's work colleagues who also relocated down south), and had a delicious dinner including the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties. Good food accompanied by some good Scottish humour made for a most enjoyable evening.
Last night was our street AGM - we live on a private road so have a residents committee to keep things in order. Our neighbour, who also happens to chair said committee, had rustled up a huge pot of mulled wine and produced a batch of mince pies, so that certainly livened up the proceedings!Ben & Jerry are currently fast asleep cosied up next to the radiator, but the sun is starting to peek through the clouds so methinks it's time for an outing to the snowy woods for a run around - for the pups, not me... I shall stroll along behind them, gingerly trying to keep my balance on the icy path!
